10.

This image boggles the mind. My imagination cant help but race back and forth trying to come up with some sort of explanation. it really reminds me of the new Craig Thompson graphic novel 'Habibi', where a young girl and a child take refuge in an old tug boat in the middle of the desert. A part of me thinks that maybe photoshop had a hand to play in this, but no one likes a skeptic.
I really don't know what it is about this image that speaks to me. Once a hive of activity and production it now lies dormant and dead, like an abandoned wasps nest or termite mound. i cant help but wonder what some one who had never seen the likes of a city would make of this place, or the feeling they would get from being there. also the colours are super nice.
This is a sketch of a Ferryman by Allen Williams when he was on his way to Alameda in California. The Fierce expression really captures the wind beaten faces of tho who spend their time at sea! I love how mad and abstract it is with a strong sci-fi influence. If only people actually looked like this.
I dunno what it is about this little guy that really appeals to me. Maybe its his big eyes which help him to peer around his dark dank cave, or the gobsmacked expression on his face after seeing the outside world for the first time. either way there's some real depth and thought behind this character. Props to who ever did this!
This is a tattoo by Dan Marshall at Tribulation Tattoo. It leaves me pretty much speechless every time i see it. the faces look as though they are based on comic book illustrations with some crazy Nordic influences. the doorway in the center is particularly impressive. It really looks like you could reach into his chest.
Nomadic life that's surrounded by mystery. Theres something increadibly peaceful about this image despite the desert being such a hostile place to live. besides, camels are beautiful animals...
This is an photo of a burning Kuwaiti oil field during the Gulf war. There's something so dramatic and striking about this image. It encompasses the suffering of everyone who was involved and depicts the savage rape of the earth in the quest for oil.
An image from H.R. Gigers 'Necronomicon'. The detail blows my mind. You get a sense with Gigers work that each seperate element has its own hidden agenda, there is an unbelievable wealth of symbolism. H.R. is and probably always will be the king of horror/sci-fi.
I found this whilst relentlessly searching for some concept art for the new alien movie, 'prometheus'. I'm pretty sure its just fan art, since the studio has been majorly hush hush about releasing any sort of information. It's meant to be an updated design of the 'space jockey' from the beginning of the first alien film. I think the artist has done a great job incorporating elements from whats is now, aliens sister movie, 'Predator'. He has kept it fairly true to H.R. Gigers original design, although no where near as bone chilling.
This is a tattoo designed by Ash who's currently working at broad street studio in bath. I love the bold colours. He has a crazy style. His designs are usually based on traditional subject matter but super cartoony. RAD!
